A refined love story that, because of its tragic end, is able to involve and deeply move the audience. A music masterpiece that represents a milestone among Italian lyric operas.
Bohème is a lyric drama in 4 acts. Music by Giacomo Puccini, libretto by Giuseppe Giocosa and Luigi Illica; it is based on Henry Murger's novel "Scènes de la vie de Bohème".
The opera premièred on 1st February 1896 at "Teatro Regio" in Turin, under the direction of the maestro Arturo Toscanini. It had a great success of audience, even if the official critics were at the beginning quite hostile.
However this opera achieved soon also the right critical appreciations: every time this story of a refined love story and its tragic end are settled on stage, it is able to involve completely and deeply move the audience.
Among the best known arias of La Bohème we remember Rodolfo's 'Che gelida manina' and the duet between Rodolfo and Mimì 'O soave fanciulla'.
These two arias are to be considered without any doubts as two of the most executed music pieces in the international lyrical panorama.
